Engagements

Three ways to work with a senior Shopify team.

No fixed-scope shopping cart. Each engagement is shaped around where your store is, what's blocking the next stage, and how deep we need to go. The Embedded Partnership runs as a full Shopify development retainer. The other two are scoped pieces of work with a defined end.

01 Diagnostic

A focused review that ends with a prioritized roadmap.

For brands who suspect their store is leaving revenue on the table but haven't isolated where. Ends with a written plan you can execute in-house or with us.

→ Best for: identifying the highest-leverage moves before committing to a build.

What's included
  • Structured store review, traced to root cause
  • Conversion, performance, and merchandising assessed together
  • Prioritized roadmap ranked by revenue impact
  • Written deliverable you keep, with or without us
Duration 2 to 3 weeks
02 Build Sprint

A defined engineering engagement against a specific system.

For brands with a known constraint in performance, merchandising, or conversion that needs solving properly rather than patching over. We scope it, ship it, and measure what moved.

→ Best for: turning a known bottleneck into compounding revenue.

What's included
  • Scoped to a single system: conversion, merchandising, performance, or custom
  • Native Shopify primitives: Functions, app extensions, Liquid done right
  • Measured against one agreed metric before we start
  • Shipped to production, with the code documented and handed over
Duration 4 to 8 weeks
03 Embedded Partnership

An ongoing engineering relationship for serious operators.

For brands where the store is the business and the engineering needs to compound month over month. We become the engineering layer underneath your brand and product strategy.

→ Best for: brands who want a long-term engineering partner.

What's included
  • Diagnostic, build, optimization, and integration under your strategy
  • Engineering that compounds month over month
  • Direct access to the people doing the work
  • Quarterly reviews with the engineering lead
Duration Ongoing, monthly

Why we scope investment to the work.

No two engagements look the same, so we shape investment around scope, depth, and timeline. You'll get a clear range in the first conversation, along with an honest read on whether it makes sense to work together at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Embedded Partnership a Shopify retainer?

Functionally, yes. It's a monthly Shopify development retainer staffed by senior engineers. The difference from a typical retainer agency is that it's shaped around systems and outcomes rather than a bucket of hours: diagnostic, build, optimization, and integration work that compounds month over month.

Do you publish pricing?

No, and we think that's a feature. No two engagements look the same, and fixed published pricing tends to push agencies toward template work rather than engineered work. We give you a clear investment range in the first conversation. If you want to compare billing models first, read our breakdown of retainer versus hourly versus project-based pricing.

How do I know which engagement is right for me?

If you don't know where the revenue is leaking, start with a Diagnostic. If you know the bottleneck but not the fix, a Build Sprint. If the store is the business and engineering needs to compound, an Embedded Partnership.

Can a Diagnostic turn into a Build Sprint?

Often, yes. Most relationships start with a Diagnostic and graduate into a Build Sprint or Embedded Partnership once we've identified the highest-leverage moves.

How long does each engagement take?

A Diagnostic runs 2 to 3 weeks. A Build Sprint runs 4 to 8 weeks depending on the system being engineered. An Embedded Partnership is ongoing and billed monthly. We share a clear timeline before any work begins.

Do you take on early-stage stores?

Generally, no. The brands we work with already have traction and have outgrown the systems they started with. Early-stage stores are usually better served by a theme partner or a dedicated solo developer.

Let's Engineer What's Next

Past the plateau? Let's engineer what's next.

We take on a small number of brands at a time. If your store has outgrown its current setup, start with a conversation, or read how we've done this for other brands.
